The Western Conference defeated the Eastern Conference 163-158 in the 2015 NBA All Stars game at the Madison Square Garden in New York. Russell Westbrook was the star of the show, despite not being in the starting lineup as he scored 41 points. He set the record of the most points in a half, in an All Stars game, with 27 at half time. The game started at a frenetic pace as both teams scored from down town. LeBron James was very aggressive at the beginning as he scored the opening points for the Eastern Conference. He finished with 30 points.
The Gasol brothers Marc and Pau, created history as they became the first brothers and first Europeans to start in an All Stars game. Marc played for the West while his brother Pau played for the East. Both of them ended up with double figures in rebounds (10 and 12 respectively).
Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder was voted the most valuable player. With the All Star game now out of the way, he will be hoping to carry this momentum into the second half of the season to propel OKC into the playoffs.
Carmelo Anthony who was playing in on his home court finished with 14 points, while Kyle Korver of the Atlanta Hawks hit 21 points – all from downtown.
