The Golden State Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 124-114 in overtime to take game one of the NBA Finals. It was generally thought that for the Cavaliers had to win this game to stand a chance of wrestling back the title from the Warriors. They had a chance to, with the game tied at 107 in overtime but with four seconds to go JR Smith thought they were ahead and tried to play for time when he should have taken a time out. LeBron James was furious with him. Games often turn on pivotal moments like this and so it proved. In overtime the Cavs were outscored 17-7. LeBron scored 51 points, which was his highest score ever in an NBA final.
Another key moment during regulation time was when Kevin Durant was adjudged to have committed an offensive foul on LeBron. However after reviewing it the referee changed the decision to a foul by LeBron on Durrant. Game two is scheduled for Sunday night at the Oracle Centre.
